If you’re new to the world of crystal healing, like I was just a few months ago, you may not be aware that different crystals have different strengths and uses. But they do! And in this post, we’re going to cover which are the best crystals for self love in particular. As well as how to use them throughout your journey.

But before we start moving through the list, let’s talk about…

How To Use Crystals For Self Love

Crystal healing is a topic worthy of its own post, but I’ll give you a quick rundown on how it works. Especially in regards to building self love!

Step One – Prepare the crystal.

The first step is to prepare your crystal. To do this, you’ll first need to cleanse it (here’s a great article on how to do that if you’re interested).

Then you’ll need to set an intention upon it. There are multiple ways to do this, but the simplest is to hold your crystal and repeat a chosen affirmation that relates to what you want the crystal to help you with. It’s important that you really try to embody the vibe and emotion you’re targeting while you do this, so your crystal can soak everything up.

Here are a few examples of self love related affirmations you could try…

  • “I am completely in love with myself.”
  • “I love myself unconditionally!”
  • “I am worthy of all the love in the world.”

Step Two – Find ways to use the crystal.

Now, once your crystal is ready to go, there are a few main methods that people choose between when using them for healing. And they are…

  • Meditating with them. Many people believe their meditations are enhanced when holding crystals that correspond to what they’re working on with their practice. So in this case, you’d choose a crystal related to self love and hold it in your hands while doing a self love meditation. Bonus points for holding it against your chest, as this is where your heart chakra (the chakra that controls love) resides.
  • Displaying them around your home. When you’re not actively using your crystals, it’s also common to display them. Because, not only are they aesthetically pleasing… But many people believe they exude the energy you put in them back out into your space, as well as absorb and transform negative energy. And at the very least, they serve as nice reminders of your new intention!
  • Carrying them around with you. If you’re working with smaller crystals, then you could also consider carrying them around with you. For instance, in this scenario, maybe you’d slip a self love crystal into your purse before going on a date. So that you’re reminded to love yourself no matter what, and perhaps be infused with that energy as well!

Crystals For Self Love

Now let’s actually dive into some crystals that are commonly used in regards to self love!

(Disclaimer: As an Amazon Associate, I earn a commission from qualifying purchases. And pictures used in this post don’t represent the items linked.)

Rose Quartz

One of the most popular self love crystals is rose quartz! Rose quartz is a light pink crystal that is commonly associated with the heart chakra, and everything that goes along with it! In fact, it’s literally known as “the love stone”.

Its energy is very nurturing and soothing. Which makes it perfect for healing any emotional wounds that might be getting in the way of your self love journey. And it specializes in opening your heart chakra! So if you struggle with feeling closed off to the idea of love, being too harsh with yourself, etc… Rose quartz could be a helpful crystal to look into.

Rhodonite

Rhodonite is perhaps one of the most underrated crystals for self love! Because this beautiful, pink crystal is not only known for activating your heart chakra, but also healing you emotionally and helping to heal old wounds.

In fact, sometimes it’s even used to release resentments that might be getting in the way of your self love journey. So if you’re someone who is trying to heal after a tough breakup or forgive yourself for perceived mistakes in regards to your love life, rhodonite could be especially helpful.

(Alternatively, you could look into rhodochrosite which is very similar in many ways despite being a different mineral.)

Aquamarine

Now it’s time to talk about our first blue crystal of the list, aquamarine! At first glance, it might not seem like aquamarine is related to self love in particular… But actually, this crystal is known for its ability to clear out unwanted emotions.

Plus, it’s often used alongside rose quartz for heart chakra healing. So if you’re already using rose quartz for self love, aquamarine could be a great addition. And even on its own, you can use aquamarine for things like cleansing, calming, and fostering self acceptance.

Citrine

Next up, we have citrine! Which is a bright, yellow/golden crystal that often represents positive energy and creativity. Making it the perfect crystal to combat any negativity in your life, including negativity directed towards yourself.

If rose quartz is known for its connection to your heart chakra, citrine is known for its association to your solar plexus chakra (which has to do with our self confidence and personal power). So not only does it remove negativity and replace it with positive energy… But it can also aid in manifestation and stepping into a more self assured version of yourself.

Overall, this crystal is well suited for people who find themselves in a slump and want to build up more confidence in themselves. Which is obviously a very important aspect of self love!

Garnet

Lastly, we have garnet. A dark red crystal with many potential uses and a strong connection to your root chakra (the chakra that has to do with safety and grounding).

Garnet can be used to work through self doubt, build a sense of stability and confidence in yourself, and even to cleanse negative energy. Plus, garnet is a crystal that amplifies other crystal’s energies. Which means it makes a powerful addition to your collection, regardless of what you’re working on.

So it’s ideal for those of us that struggle with feeling grounded, safe within our bodies, and confident in our own abilities.

Alternatives To Raw Stones

Now, before I wrap up this post, I wanted to provide some alternatives to collecting the stone versions of the crystals we talked about. Because if that’s not your vibe, there are other ways to incorporate crystals into your life.

Jewelry

One of the most popular options is collecting jewelry made from the crystals you want to work with! Because, not only is this an excellent way to ensure you’ll have the crystals with you at all times, but it can elevate your external appearance at the same time!

  • Bracelets are a fan favorite, seeing as they can be worn for a variety of occasions. And this rose quartz bracelet is a great example! It’s cute, plus could be stacked with other healing bracelets for enhanced energy.
  • Necklaces are another great option, although they can be a bit pricier than bracelets. And you’ll want to make sure to find one that uses the real crystal, like this citrine necklace. Because otherwise it won’t have the same effect.

Decor

Secondly, you could look into decor! Because you can find some unique pieces that incorporate crystals, if you don’t like the look of the raw stones. Such as this rose quartz tree!

Or you could look into getting a special display for your raw crystals, to make things look a little more intentional! There are lots of great options for this as well; ranging from beautiful wooden trays to place around your home, to unique shelves you can hang on your wall.
