Section One – Blankets and Pillows
As I discussed in my previous article, a guide on how to make your home cozy, blankets and pillows are a great way to add not only texture… but also color to your space. Which will lead to a more “lived in” and inviting look to your home.
So here are a few affordable choices for pillows/blankets that I found on Amazon.
Blankets
- This fleece throw blanket is probably my top pick, since it perfectly emulates the more high-end blankets you see on social media. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors and sizes!
- However, I also love this reversible faux fur blanket. Because, if you get tired of the shaggy side, you can simply turn it over and enjoy the soft sherpa. This blanket also comes in many different colors and sizes.
- And lastly, this beautifully designed fleece blanket could be a great option to add some extra texture to a room.
Pillows
- This decorative pillow sham comes in a few different colors, all of which very much match the cozy aesthetic. And between those color options, the floral design, and the fringe at the ends… I think it’s the perfect option for adding some eclectic comfort to your furniture.
- On the other hand, this set of two faux fur pillow covers matches well with the first fleece throw blanket I mentioned above. They even come in similar colors, which you could mix and match with the blanket to provide contrast.
Section Two – Lighting
If you’ve spent any amount of time looking into cozy home decor in the past, you’ve probably noticed there’s quite a bit of focus on lighting. And for good reason! Lighting can make or break the vibe of a home. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at a few ideas…
- Lamps – Table lamps, floor lamps, salt lamps… There are a lot of options to choose from in this category of lighting. And usually, lamps provide a much more calming atmosphere than overhead lights.
- Fairy Lights – Another popular option for cozy lighting is fairy lights! They can be strung around your home in various places, and there’s usually a lot of settings to play around with as well. For instance, the string lights that I linked can be switched to sixteen different colors and several brightness settings.
- Night Lights – Lastly, you could even look into night lights like this one that can add a bit of comfort and whimsy to your space.
Section Three – Bonus Items
Adding color/texture to your space via blankets and pillows, and warmth to your home at night with strategic lighting… is usually enough to curate a homy environment. But in case you’re looking for a little something extra, here are a few other fun and cozy home decor items…
- Candle warmers… These are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they allow you to gently release the smell of your candles without burning them. Which adds to the ambience of any room!
- Area rugs… Pillows and blankets aren’t the only fabrics you can take advantage of! Rugs can be pricey but they can also be very aesthetically pleasing and cozy. (And if you can’t afford an area rug, you could even layer smaller rugs over each other for the same effect.)
- Baskets… Baskets can be creative ways to make organization look cozy! You can store anything from trinkets to blankets in them, and they’re much nicer to look at than plastic bins!
- Artificial plants… Plants can really elevate any space and make it more inviting. But if you have kids/pets or you simply don’t have that green of a thumb… You could buy some artificial plants to achieve the same effect!
Final Thoughts
These are just a few ideas of ways you can make affordable change to your space, but there are so many other options you could look into as well. As an example, thrifting can be a great way to source unique (and budget-friendly) items for your home.
But I hope this article provided you with a few ways to start, and reminded you that the cozy aesthetic isn’t out of your reach! Regardless of budget!
